Picked up at B&N

These are just small things because the bulk of our library ordering gets done through vendors. Window shopping sure is fun, though. Plus the 20% educator discount.

Hopefully I'll be able to turn in the receipt and get reimbursed for this one. We'll see. But we can NEVER have enough of these so I got it either way. Cataloging will probably not like me, though. And a quick flip through? ACTUALLY "I Can Read" type vocabulary. Sorry, princessy girls. I'm more drawn to this type of stuff when I'm on my own time. I get you stuff, too.

This one? Totally For Fun. Won't leave the library but something they can do while they are here if they can't check out books or it's too loud or whatever. Is there a better term I can use than Fun? "Visual discrimination" skills or something?

I actually try to be pretty paperless ... use the calendar on my phone and such. But that's not quite the same as being able to visually check off "I exercised every day last week" or "The "to be shelved cart" only overflowed ONCE last week." This calendar actually starts the same week as school (even though it says 2014). Plus I don't get great cell reception inside school so that calendar doesn't always sync properly. Guest wifi, sadly, was a joke last spring. Maybe it will be better this year.

PS I know an indie would be a better local choice. The closest indie (outside of used bookstores, which I should frequent more often!) is all the way downtown. I don't make it there very often. In fact I'm more likely to order from Amazon ... and that's getting dangerously close to a monopoly. #decisions

  1. You don't use Follett or Baker and Taylor and get everything processed? Saved my life. Fun fact: I'm a super hero. http://www.teacherscount.org/contest/neil.html

    1. I do usually. The bulk of our ordering does get done through vendors (BTSB and Follet). That's why cataloging is going to hate me. They'll do loose stuff (I know, I'm spoiled) ... but they don't always like it. Especially anthology type books.

I'm only allowed to "copy catalog" if it's already in the system. Like an extra copy of the new ... what's the title. The new Tom Angleberger that comes out next week about Jabba the Hutt.

Now I must go check out your link.

  2. AND THAT IS AWESOMELY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A bike? Every day? That's pretty cool, actually. I live too far away right now and that's only going to get about three times worse with the new place. Add south TX heat and ridiculous allergies and no go. With a basket and everything?
SERIOUSLY COOL. Are the comic books actually in Office Max right now? I want to go get one.
